Join us in Oxfordshire for a wonderful bridge experience, staying at the Oxford Belfry Hotel & Spa, set in 17 acres of beautiful countryside. The highlight of this unique holiday is sure to be playing bridge at the UNESCO-listed Blenheim Palace! We have a fantastic day planned, including tea or coffee on arrival before free time to explore the palace and grounds at leisure with lunch included.
Blenheim Palace is grandeur on the largest of scales. It was given to the 1st Duke of Marlborough by Queen Anne and her grateful nation as thanks for his stunning victory at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. The palace has magnificent English Baroque architecture and expansive, stunning parkland just waiting to be discovered.
We then head to the Marlborough Room, originally the palace kitchen, for an exciting afternoon of bridge within the walls of this grand, centuries-old landmark. You don't want to miss out – this delightful holiday will most definitely be one to remember!
Please note: sessions throughout this holiday are duplicate bridge with Masterpoints to be awarded.

After a leisurely breakfast, we travel by coach to Blenheim Palace. On arrival, we enjoy tea and coffee before exploring the palace at leisure with lunch.
At Blenheim Palace, there’s an overarching aura of history and achievement. Couple that with a grand building in a perfect setting, and there’s no wonder that UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site.
Blenheim Palace was given to the 1st Duke of Marlborough by Queen Anne and her grateful nation as thanks for his stunning victory at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. Sir John Vanbrugh’s magnificent English Baroque architecture reflects not only the 1st Duke’s military achievements, but also Vanbrugh’s own feeling that the palace should, at the same time, be a monument to Queen Anne’s glory.
The parkland as you see it today, looking so natural with its sweeping lake and hanging beech wood is, in fact, man-made, constructed laboriously between 1764 and 1774 to the far-sighted plans of the master landscaper, Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
We then head to the Marlborough Room for an exclusive afternoon bridge session. This was originally the palace kitchen and has a beautiful double-vaulted ceiling rising to the full height of the palace, along with two stunning chandeliers and a huge fireplace.
At the end of the afternoon, we rejoin the coach and return to the hotel for a leisurely dinner this evening.
After breakfast, it’s time to check out of the hotel and make your own way home.
