Join us on the beautiful island of Madeira for a relaxed bridge holiday with your hosts, James and Jane Tullett. We stay at the 5-star Melia Madeira Mare which boasts an excellent location and offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from Funchal and has easy access to the seafront Lido promenade and gorgulho beach. Both indoor and outdoor swimming pools are freshwater and are complemented by a sun terrace furnished with loungers and parasols. The extensive spa centre offers a range of indulgent treatments, alongside a Turkish hammam, steam bath, and sauna. As well as immersing yourself in the facilities of this remarkable hotel, we include daily relaxed bridge sessions, interactive bridge seminars and a full day excursion to Madeira’s west side.
Madeira enjoys mild temperatures year-round and is famous for some of the world’s most exquisite floral displays – in fact, there are six public gardens worth a visit during your free time. In Funchal, there’s a famous lido complex, and it’s a beautiful walk along the promenade where you’ll find restaurants, bars and cafés too. Madeira has it all – from breathtaking ocean views to lush green valleys – making it the ideal setting for your Relaxed Bridge holiday.

Suited for more novice players from non-affiliated clubs, or for anyone who wishes to ease themselves back into the game and progress their skills at a slower pace, these holidays focus on enjoyment and building confidence in a social environment. The programme also includes interactive seminars where you'll play hands based on the topic, offering a great way to step up to the next level of bridge. No Masterpoints will be awarded.

Madeira West Side Tour (Day 4)
This excursion is an incredible journey through the natural beauty of Madeira Island, featuring stunning landscapes, local culture and must-see stops.
We start with a visit to Câmara de Lobos, one of Madeira's most charming and traditional villages, famous for its colourful houses and fishing village atmosphere. Next, we head to Cabo Girão, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe, standing at 580 meters. Here you will have the chance to admire breathtaking panoramic views, while walking on the glass platform.
From here, the tour continues to Madalena do Mar, a village known for its vast banana plantation, where it is possible to walk amongst the banana trees and learn about their cultivation. We continue through Paúl do Mar, a small and picturesque village by the sea, known for its natural beauty and idyllic landscapes and then descend towards Porto Moniz, a remarkable area known for its famous natural volcanic swimming pools.
After an included lunch, we continue to Véu da Noiva, one of Madeira’s most impressive waterfalls. Water cascades down from great heights, creating a stunning image that resembles a bridal veil.
The next stop is in São Vicente, a small village in the northern part of the island, where visitors can learn about the island’s geological formation and explore the stunning landscapes surrounding the village. The final stop is Serra D'Água, a deep valley surrounded by mountains, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. We return to the hotel later this afternoon.
