Journey to the stunning island of Malta for a Play & Improve holiday to remember, joined by a friendly director and hosts. If you have been playing bridge for a while and want to develop your game and technique, this is the holiday for you.
Our base is the 4-star db San Antonio Hotel & Spa, which is ideally located in the heart of Qawra, close to many shops and all tourist facilities. The stunning 3.5km seafront promenade, passing Bugibba and St Paul's Bay with its islands, is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll in the sunshine. The hotel also boasts an excellent range of facilities including a large outdoor pool, an indoor pool and Moroccan-style spa, and a private beach, as well as providing excellent value with its all-inclusive package.
The bus terminal is just 100 metres from the hotel and offers direct transportation all over Malta, making it exceptionally easy to explore this fascinating island steeped in history. There are colourful towns and villages, abundant with churches and local festivals, just waiting to be discovered. Frequent buses will take you into the historic capital Valletta, where you can meander through this incredible walled city, or take a boat trip around the deep harbour and experience the views from the Upper Barrakka Gardens.
We include a full-day excursion to Gozo, a three-hilled island that is much greener than Malta and very picturesque, as well as offering an optional excursion to Rabat and the "Silent City" of Mdina, home to the infamous Mdina Gate.
Non-bridge playing partners are welcome and can enjoy free time whilst bridge is in session, enjoying a small discount on the holiday price.

Your Bridge Programme
Play & Improve holidays are ideal for bridge players who have been playing for a while and want to develop their card game and techniques. The emphasis is on learning and improving through interactive seminars during the day, followed by leisurely evening hands based on the seminar topic. There is plenty of card play hands to develop learning on themes, without formal evening duplicate play. Our friendly team will offer teaching and coaching if required, and you’re free to ask questions along the way!
Each holiday is accompanied by our loyal and welcoming bridge team, and partners are always found for solo players. No Masterpoints are awarded and there will be no adjustment to your NGS rating.

Rabat and Mdina – Optional
On this optional tour, we visit the historic town of Rabat, famous for its well-preserved catacombs that date back to the Roman times. We will learn about traditional food and enjoy a taste of pastizzi and specialities cooked by a family for generations, all set in a traditional little bar on the outskirts of Rabat. This unique experience will give you a moving, heart-warming taste of rural and family life in Malta.
We also visit Mdina, famously referred to as the "Silent City". This former capital is essentially a living museum, enveloped entirely by fortified walls and boasting a labyrinth of narrow passageways adorned with elegant Patrician homes, Baroque churches, convents, and opulent palaces. A leisurely walk through this city of contrasting shadows and brilliant illumination will provide us with a deeper insight into the captivating history of Malta.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax and enjoy the facilities at the hotel or explore the local area at leisure.
Tonight, there will be an evening bridge session.
Each morning, join our team for a learning seminar at 10am.
In the evenings, there will be 12-board matches to reinforce the morning seminar.
Today we include a full-day excursion to Gozo. Enjoy breathtaking views on our guided tour, stopping in the capital of Victoria. We also visit the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin and a local craft centre where we experience local traditions of trade and cuisine.
This evening there will be random learning hands.
