Holiday Overview
Join us on this summer bridge holiday in delightful South Devon, based at the Dartmouth Hotel, Golf & Spa. Alongside sociable bridge sessions with newfound friends, we include some memorable days out so you can soak up the local area. There is a scenic cruise on the River Dart, plus a steam railway journey complete with an included cream tea. We also visit a historic abbey set in peaceful grounds.
The hotel is nestled in 225 acres of glorious South Devon countryside, offering a tranquil setting and an ideal base from which to explore. It sits just 4 miles from the historic naval town of Dartmouth, where cobbled streets are lined with individual artisan shops, cafes and tasty bistros. With a swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna, this hotel is a fine choice for spa enthusiasts, while golfers will appreciate the two courses, which offer a stiff challenge.

Your Bridge Programme
Play & Explore holidays are suited to intermediate players who wish to learn new skills, and regular players looking for a relaxed holiday with bridge.
Your duplicate bridge will be available every evening between 7:30pm and 10:30pm. We endeavour to vary these evening sessions, balancing between teams and pairs and playing relaxed and friendly bridge.
Bridge will also be offered some mornings or afternoons. These sessions are normally given over to open pairs/teams. Sessions may take place in the mornings instead of the afternoons, complimenting any included excursion programme.
Masterpoints are awarded on evening sessions, and on day sessions with over 5 tables.
During your bridge holiday, nothing is obligatory, and you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. We don’t forget you are on holiday and our bridge programmes also allow time to relax, giving the opportunity for you to explore the surrounding area.
Make your own way to the Telford Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort for a four-night stay. Join us for a welcome drink before dinner and evening bridge.

This morning we head into Dartmouth to join the Lower Dart river cruise. This circular route takes in views of Bayards Cove, Kingswear and Dartmouth Castles, Britannia Royal Naval College, Dittisham village, Sir Walter Raleigh's boathouse, Greenway Quay and the estate of the late Dame Agatha Christie. Afterwards there is time to enjoy the town at your own pace, with independent shops, galleries and boutiques to browse. You will also find plenty of eateries renowned for fresh seafood and locally caught crab, and there is every excuse to sit a while and admire the view. The coach transfers us back to the hotel later this afternoon.
Dinner at the hotel is followed by evening bridge.

Today we join the South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh for a 14-mile return journey. The line follows a picturesque route alongside the River Dart, through glorious Devon scenery, and you can sit back and relax with an included cream tea along the way.
This afternoon we visit Buckfast Abbey, which sits on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and is home to a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine monks. There is plenty of time to explore the Abbey Church and view The Monastic Way Exhibition, as well as to wander the beautiful gardens. We then return to the hotel by coach for dinner and evening bridge.

Set in 225 acres of glorious South Devon countryside, this delightful hotel offers a tranquil setting and perfect location just 4 miles from the historic harbourside town of Dartmouth. The Bistro & Bar offers some of the best local produce to be found in the region. Bedrooms are stylish with comfortable furnishings, and you can enjoy a relaxing night’s sleep in the soft Vi spring beds among the peaceful surroundings. Many have views of the countryside. There are two golf courses at the hotel, including an 18-hole Championship golf course and 9-hole Dartmouth course. The driving range and other facilities are perfect for those who wish to practice their golf swing!
