Holiday Overview
Alassio is an elegant coastal resort on the Ligurian Sea, part of Italy’s stunning Mediterranean coastline – and on this fantastic holiday, we discover the best of this fascinating destination. Staying at the excellent 4-star Hotel Toscana, we are ideally located just a stone’s throw from the beach and within easy walking distance of Alassio’s characterful old town. At the heart of the town lies Il Budello, Alassio’s historic pedestrianised street. Stretching for almost a kilometre and running nearly the entire length of the resort, this charming old thoroughfare is lined with stylish shops and boutiques, welcoming cafés, traditional trattorias and tempting gelaterias, all set among beautiful buildings. With its vibrant atmosphere and endless opportunities for strolling, shopping and people-watching, the Budello is truly the beating heart of Alassio. And, with a Christmas lunch and Boxing Day Gala Dinner with live music included, this is sure to be a Christmas to remember!
We have included three wonderful excursions, each showcasing a different flavour of this beautiful region. One day takes us to the medieval villages of Dolceacqua and Isolabona, followed by the elegance and seaside vibrancy of San Remo. Another excursion explores the historic port city of Genoa, rich in culture, architecture and maritime heritage. And we also venture across the border to experience the sparkle of the French Riviera, visiting Monaco and Monte Carlo, with their iconic harbour, grand casinos and unmistakable air of glamour.

Your Bridge Programme
Play & Explore holidays are suited to intermediate players who wish to learn new skills, and regular players looking for a relaxed holiday with bridge.
Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break, and, in addition to playing bridge, our host will aim to include interactive bridge seminars.
Your duplicate bridge will be available every evening between 7:30pm and 10:30pm. We endeavour to vary these evening sessions, balancing between teams and pairs and playing relaxed and friendly bridge.
Bridge will also be offered some mornings or afternoons. These sessions are normally given over to open pairs/teams.
Masterpoints are awarded on evening sessions, and on day sessions with over 5 tables.
During your bridge holiday, nothing is obligatory, and you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. We don’t forget you are on holiday and our bridge programmes also allow time to relax, giving the opportunity for you to explore the surrounding area.
With our flight-inclusive package, today you will board your flight from London Heathrow to Nice. From here, you will be transferred to the 4-star Hotel Toscana in Alassio.
If you have booked our join direct package, meet us at Nice Airport and transfer to the hotel.
Enjoy a welcome drink and meeting led by your friendly hosts. Any single travellers will have the opportunity to find a partner for the bridge room. This is followed by dinner and evening bridge.

Alongside your bridge programme, enjoy a selection of included excursions and free time to explore this beautiful region. On Christmas Day, we have a delicious Christmas lunch and on Boxing Day, there will be a Gala Dinner with live music.
Dolceacqua, Isolabona and San Remo (Day 2)
Today we visit three highlights of western Liguria in the company of a local guide. We first visit Dolceacqua, a beautifully preserved medieval village in the Nervia Valley, dominated by the 12th-century Doria Castle and its iconic stone bridge, famously painted by Monet. We then continue to Isolabona, a charming inland town of narrow alleys and stone houses, where you can enjoy a tasting of local Ligurian specialities. Our day ends in elegant San Remo, the “City of Flowers”, renowned for its Belle Époque architecture, palm lined promenades, famous casino, and atmospheric old town, La Pigna.
Genoa (Day 3)
Genoa is a fascinating Ligurian city to explore, especially during the Christmas season, when its historic centre takes on a magical atmosphere blending maritime tradition with medieval charm. The old town becomes a glowing labyrinth of lights winding through the narrow “carruggi” alleys, lined with shops, cafés and historic stone buildings. Piazza De Ferrari, Via XX Settembre, Via Garibaldi and the Old Port form the vibrant heart of the celebrations, bringing the city to life with colour, energy and festive spirit. Our local guide will show us the main sights before we return to the hotel.
Monaco and Monte Carlo (Day 6)
Monaco and Monte Carlo becomes a fairy tale at Christmas, where glittering traditions meet Provençal elegance and international glamour. In the company of a local guide, explore Le Rocher, the historic heart of the Principality, with its medieval streets and sweeping Mediterranean views, then enjoy the festive atmosphere at the Christmas Village by the harbour and the dazzling lights around the casino, avenues and squares.

Hotel Toscana
The 4-star Hotel Toscana is ideally located just 80 metres from Alassio’s splendid beach and a few steps from the famous ‘budello’, the characteristic historical centre renowned for its typical buildings and elegant shops. The hotel has 60 rooms, all with a private bathroom, air-conditioning, a mini-fridge, LED TV, telephone, safe and free Wi-Fi. There's a breakfast room serving a delicious buffet breakfast, and the restaurant offers Italian specialities for lunch and evening meals. The wine bar has a variety of drinks and there's a spa and wellness area with a hydrospa, hammam and gym which you can use for an extra charge.
