Holiday Overview
Join us on a relaxing bridge holiday to Croatia’s beautiful Makarska Riviera, overlooking the Adriatic Sea on the picturesque Dalmatian Coast. We stay in the welcoming Valamar Meteor Hotel, just a short walk into the old town of Makarska and nearby a pretty pebble beach. With its cobbled streets and squares, Makarska is simply charming and a delight to explore – be sure to go and see the Franciscan Monastery! There is also a colourful marina and stylish boutiques, bars and cafés too. Makarska is a great base to explore the picturesque Dalmatian Coast.
To ensure you experience the best of the area, we have two fantastic included excursions. We take the ferry to Brac Island where you can try local produce such as wine and olive oil. Enjoy the peaceful island life with locals who will tell you all about tradition of wine production. At a winery, you'll have an opportunity to taste various wines and local cheese, bread and cured meat. We also include an excursion to Split, a historic Croatian town, where your guide will tell you all about its people and traditions. We have an included lunch in a local restaurant and the chance to taste traditional Dalmatian dishes.

Your Bridge Programme
Play & Explore holidays are suited to intermediate players who wish to learn new skills, and regular players looking for a relaxed holiday with bridge.
Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break, and, in addition to playing bridge, our host will aim to include interactive bridge seminars.
Your duplicate bridge will be available every evening between 7:30pm and 10:30pm. We endeavour to vary these evening sessions, balancing between teams and pairs and playing relaxed and friendly bridge.
Bridge will also be offered some mornings or afternoons. These sessions are normally given over to open pairs/teams.
Masterpoints are awarded on evening sessions, and on day sessions with over 5 tables.
During your bridge holiday, nothing is obligatory, and you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. We don’t forget you are on holiday and our bridge programmes also allow time to relax, giving the opportunity for you to explore the surrounding area.
With our flight-inclusive package, today you will board your flight from London Gatwick to Split. From here, you will be transferred to the 4-star Valamar Meteor Hotel on the Makarska Riviera.
If you have booked our join direct package, meet us at Split Airport and transfer to the hotel.

Alongside your bridge programme, enjoy a selection of excursions and free time to explore this beautiful destination. On day 2, we have a welcome drink and meeting, led by our hosts. Any single travellers will have the opportunity to find a partner for the bridge room.
Brac Island (Day 4)
Join us for a full-day included excursion to Brac Island. After breakfast, our coach will take us to port where we will catch ferry to the island This is a great place to try local produce such as wine and olive oil that Croatia is famous for! Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of island life away from the big cities and spend time with locals who will tell you all about the tradition of wine production. We will visit a winery and have an opportunity to taste various wines as well as enjoy local snacks of local cheese, bread and cured meat. We may also visit an olive oil museum, where you can discover all about history of olive oil on Brac and its production process, or you can visit the famous Golden cape beach that changes its shape.
Split Guided Sightseeing Tour with Lunch (Day 6)
We travel by coach to Split where we meet our English-speaking guide who will show you around this historic Croatian town and tell you all about its people and traditions. See the Diocletian’s Palace, charming stone alleys and beautiful Riva, the main meeting point for all locals and the place where the city meets the Adriatic Sea.
After the walking tour, enjoy an included lunch in a local restaurant where you will have a chance to taste traditional dalmatian dishes. Afterwards, there is some free time to explore Split at your leisure before we transfer by coach back to the hotel.

The 4-star Valamar Meteor Hotel is located on the picturesque Makarska Riviera seaside resort, set on a pretty pebble beach overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The hotel offers elegant accommodation and an exclusive restaurant with skilfully prepared meals as well as a lobby bar and poolside terrace bar. There is also an indoor swimming pool, outdoor infinity pool, a sauna, wellness centre and free Wi-Fi. Bedrooms are tastefully decorated and feature air-conditioning, a safe, flat-screen TV and telephone. You can relax on the beautiful pine-shaded pebble beach with crystal clear waters for swimming or take a walk along the beautiful promenade.
